Original USA Mono LP
Reprise (M2151)

Very rare original USA Mono pressing. The mono mix was only ever available as a promo pressing, so never commercially released and hard as hell to track down. It seems really strange that a commercially available mono mix was never released considering the existence of a mono promo.

This is a complete copy with the promo and mono stickers on the front of the textured sleeve. It comes with the original huge poster too. Also has a Reprise inner sleeve. The label is the white promo label with black print and mono clearly printed in thick capitals at the bottom of each label.

As i'm sure everyone knows this album was recorded on the huge tour Neil Young did after the Harvest album propelled him into the charts. Instead of giving into expectations he decided to play mostly new songs, a million miles from Harvest, backed by a band who could hardly bare to look at each other while his life was starting to unravel.

The resulting album is the start of what many call his "dark" period and probably the start of what has made him an enduring legend of the American rock scene.

The sleeve is in excellent condition with some rubbing to the edges and corners mostly to the bottom seam and corners. Other than that there is no writing, no tears, no splits, no stains etc. One thing worth mentioning is that the promo sticker is coming loose, this has happened most copies. I will leave the next owner to secure it completely.

The inner sleeve is in vg condition with a split to the bottom edge. and some creasing to one top corner. Otherwise no tears and no writing.

The poster is in excellent condition with three tiny pin holes to the corners. There is no writing, no tears, no splits, no stains etc.

The record is visually in excellent condition, under two very bright lights i can make out a couple of short scuff marks and some paper scuffing along with some scuffing in the run in groove. No scracthes on this copy, well looked after but not visually perfect.

Playback is superb for most of the album, clear and strong playback even during the quieter songs. However, the scuffing in the run in groove causes several pops and some crackle that dissapears as the first song kicks in. For some reason there is crackle throughout Journey Thru the Past, strange as the rest of the album plays just about perfectly. I assume it is to do with the pressing, probably a rush job to get the album into the AM radio stations quickly in an attempt to get play on the back of Harvest.

Please note that we grade all records the same way, whether they're 40 years old or one year old.
